Volunteer Help Needed

To meet the growing number of requests from Afghanistan we are working to increase our supporter base this Fall. One of our main programs will be a fundraising challenge using “viral fundraising.” You’ve probably seen or used this before with fundraisers for Am. Heart Assoc., breast cancer, Special Olympics or others. People set up personal or team fundraising pages and ask friends, family and coworkers to contribute.

We’ll be doing this with a slight twist. Teams and individuals will have a friendly competition – or challenge – in three main categories: a Military Challenge (e.g., Army teams vs. Marines teams); a Corporate Challenge and a University Challenge (people raising funds under their company or college banner and competing with other companies or universities).

We are looking for volunteers to be “Captain” in each of those categories, i.e.,
* Military Challenge Captain
* Corporate Challenge Captain
* University Challenge Captain

The main task of a Challenge Captain is to recruit and then encourage, motivate and cajole teams within your area. E.g, the Military Challenge Captain will recruit teams under the Army banner and the Marines banner and whip them into a frenzy of spirited competition.

The majority of the time commitment will be in October and November. We’re looking for highly extroverted people who will be emailing and phone calling machines. People who will really dive in and help us make this successful. Ideally, you’ll have experience with this type of fundraiser and have 1/3 of your time or more available during Oct and Nov.

If you’re interested in helping in one of those roles, please email us at staff  at spiritofamerica. dot net and we will be in touch after Labor Day. If you think you will be interested in forming a team in either category (e.g., for your company),  please email us at staff  at spiritofamerica. dot net. We’ll get you involved early in testing the system.
