Youth Business Council inaugural event

The Mayor of Kandahar City provides the opening address at the 1st Avesta Youth Business Council event.
On December 15, the Avesta Youth Business Council held its inaugural event to promote youth participation in Kandahar City's economic growth. Over 20 students and faculty from the Avesta Institute of Management Sciences, a post-secondary business school, were in attendance, along with the Kandahar Province Director of Economy, the mayor of Kandahar City, and other key economic players.
Government officials, private sector leaders, and business students met together in a unique forum to discuss improving business in Kandahar City and what role the youth can play in shaping the future. The mayor of Kandahar City, Mayor M. Omar, spoke of "advanced countries" worldwide and highlighted youth cooperation as an important part of economic development.
Director Rahimi, Director of Economy for Kandahar Province, lauded the council's formation as a stepping stone towards Kandahar City's economic growth.
Haji Nasrullah, Director Chamber of Commerce, noted that Kandahar City definitely needs the young generation to play a key role in designing a solid foundation for business. He emphasized that youth should take responsibility for promoting a successful business environment.

A student speaker from the AIMS Youth Business Council, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of effective marketing in promoting business in Kandahar City. The gathering was unique in that it gave students the opportunity to meet and mingle with their elected officials and present their ideas for improving conditions in Afghanistan.

The event, which was held at a newly opened Municipal Sub Office, was sponsored in part by Spirit of America. Afghan Azad Radio, RTA TV, and Hewad TV covered the event for the local media.
