Winter Clothing & Boots for Afghan Security Forces
Help American troops increase effectiveness of Afghan Army and PoliceMarines in Helmand Province have asked for winter clothing, fleece pullovers, caps, and boots to give to the Afghan Army and Police personnel who the Marines are training and with whom they are patrolling. The clothing and boots will make the Afghan forces more effective and productive in the tough winter months.
A critical goal of the United States, NATO and Afghanistan is to
prepare Afghan security forces – Army and Police – to provide security,
thus reducing the burden on American troops. The more effective the
Afghan forces become, the faster American servicemen and women can
return home.
Many American servicemen and women are actively engaged in training and
patrolling with their Afghan counterparts. While the training and
certain equipment is provided by the government, other more personal
items are either not provided or not available in some of Afghanistan’s
remote areas. Helmand Province is one such remote area.
