Help Army Major Mullin 'Ease Suffering' in Baghdad

Major James Mullin with 'Team Weasel' Military Transition Team wants to provide critically needed supplies

As the Team Chief for Team Weasel, which is a Military Training and Transition (MiTT) Team, Army Major James Mullin leads efforts to train and advise the 6th Iraqi Army (IA) Division (DIV) in Baghdad, Iraq. We are helping the 6th IA DIV take a more prominent role in operations by providing their own security and taking the lead on missions with US forces in support. One of our missions is to help ease the suffering of the Iraqi people in Baghdad and its surrounding communities. We conduct humanitarian missions alongside our IA counterparts to deliver food, water, medical supplies, clothing, toiletries, toys and school supplies. With your generous support of this project, Spirit of America can help Major Mullin and Team Weasel provide critically needed items such as medical, dental, hygiene and educational supplies.

Message from Major Mullin and Team Weasel

"I am the Team Chief for Team Weasel, which is a Military Training and Transition (MiTT) Team. I lead 10 officers and Non-commissioned Officers and we work with another MiTT Team training and advising the 6th Iraqi Army (IA) Division (DIV) in Baghdad, Iraq. We are helping the 6th IA DIV take a more prominent role in operations by providing their own security and taking the lead on missions with US forces in support. Team Weasel works hand-in-hand with the 6th IA DIV on a daily basis, conducting training, liaising with US forces, and executing joint missions throughout sector to improve the security posture in the Baghdad Area of Responsibility and to increase the safety of the Iraqi people. It is our mission to improve the effectiveness of the 6th IA DIV, and we see improvement in our Iraqi soldiers every day.

Another one of our missions is to help ease the suffering of the Iraqi people in Baghdad and its surrounding communities. We conduct humanitarian missions alongside our IA counterparts to deliver food, water, medical supplies, clothing, toiletries, toys and school supplies.

As part of my combat advisor duties, I oversee the 6th IA DIV G-5 (Civil Affairs) section. I work with these soldiers to set up humanitarian missions and try my best to assist them in obtaining humanitarian aid supplies. Since the 6th IA DIV receives virtually no financial or logistical support for these items, it is very difficult for them to accomplish their mission. I have been assisting them by taking extra items from Soldier care packages here in Iraq and by coordinating for donations from people, schools, and humanitarian organizations in the US. It is not much, but it is the best we can do given the limited resources available. At this point in time, I have compiled 109 boxes of HA supplies which have been distributed to over 2,800 Iraqis. I have some limited supplies left in my possession and I hope to conduct another joint HA mission with my counterparts in the coming weeks to deliver these items to a needy school in the Baghdad area.

I am the primary person engaged in these projects on the Coalition Force (CF) side (MAJ James E. Mullin III, US Army). These projects are to support the Iraqi people through the efforts of the 6th IA DIV G-5 section, whom I advise. These projects are ongoing, and any HA supplies I receive from Spirit of America will contribute to these missions. If I were to receive support from your organization, I would set up specific missions to distribute your items and get the pictures you desire. These projects will take place in Baghdad but on the Western side of the Tigris River is the 6th IA DIV’s Area of Responsibility."-Army Major James Mullin
